Unnecessary Pictures was founded in 2024 by Roman Nesis.

Roman is a Los Angeles-based filmmaker and producer with over a decade of experience in the entertainment industry.

Prior to launching Unnecessary Pictures, Roman worked as a Production Manager at Hello Sunshine, Reese Witherspoon's multi-media company, where he oversaw multiple projects such as Surf Girls Hawai’i (Amazon), My Kind of Country (Apple TV+), and Something from Tiffany's (Amazon). Earlier in his career, Roman worked at RatPac Entertainment supporting its documentary division from its inception through its steady growth over 4 years that was behind such docs as Before the Flood (Nat Geo), Author: The JT LeRoy Story (Amazon), and Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds (HBO).

Roman holds an MFA in Film & TV Production from the University of Southern California and a BA in Economics from Boston College. Originally from St. Petersburg, Russia, Roman brings a global perspective to his work, blending creative storytelling with strategic production expertise.
